Prepostrophes: A Series filed in Gravitas
Across the road from our house is a big cheerful pub. You might think that this is a good thing, but it is the pub equivalent of blue neons under your car. It does a particularly good line in appallingly punctuated chalkboards. See if you can spot them all...
Special points for successfully converting memory into a plural, but still adding an apostrophe:
And my personal favourite:
Karen

Don't forget that that pub is the "Fag and Firebucket", yet most of the boards outside proclaim "Fig and Firebucket". I notice it every time I go past because yes, I truly am that sad.
Lyle - Monday July 04, 2005 09:19Oooh, sorry, um, if you want to change the name of the pub, or delete it, I'll just say "they can't even spell their own name consistently".
Lyle - Monday July 04, 2005 09:21Ah, so you did spot that I'd carefully edited out the pub name for the sake of anonymity?!
Karen - Monday July 04, 2005 10:35*blushes* and waits for the first comment to be deleted...
Lyle - Monday July 04, 2005 11:11No need to delete. I've changed the names to protect the innocent.
Pete - Monday July 04, 2005 11:20What if "Mike Peter's" is his real name?
