Gosh, that sounds sophisticated! It's true, once the sausage and lentil casserole bug has bitten, there is no going back.

Well I was inspired by your pimpage and made an improvised sausage and lentil casserole last night. Toulouse sausages, puy lentils, onion, garlic, stock, tin of tomatoes and any veg lying around needing to be used up. Yesterday it happened to be carrots, tomatoes and a solitary wizened red pepper. Served with pitta to use for scooping and mopping. It was insanely delicious. The sausage-loving boys now only want their sausages served this way. It has immediately risen to the heights of the other family-favourite-improvisation, corned beef stew. Nom nom nom.

http://www.turquoise.me.uk/2010/03/10/pimp-my-menu-curry/ as requested: a comment, for a round up. I hope you are mightily impressed by the lengths to which I went with this one.
