Stuff on my desk

This is a companion piece to a similarly-themed article on Pete’s site, which, all things being equal, should be published at roughly the same time.

My desk

Here is my desk. It is an old wooden desk that we bought from the previous owner of this house. It’s good because you can hide stuff in the drawers, but it still does get very cluttered. I tidied it up for the purposes of this photograph. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to see the photograph while I write this post, for complicated technical reasons that I don’t understand, so let’s hope that things are still in the same place they were this afternoon.

Thanks

Considering how much American culture seeps into the UK, I’m surprised we don’t routinely give thanks for things on the third Thursday in November. I don’t normally do this, but Pete came home last night and thanked me for making his packed lunch every day, quite out of the blue, and it made me get all disney.

I have a couple of things to be thankful for, and I don’t think I can mention them too often; and they are:

Pete – to whom I owe my sanity, once again. I have said that before, and the last six months has been easier than the previous year, but I still rely on his help and support so heavily. The great thing is that he provides it, so willingly. He is the best dad I know, in so many ways.

Bernard – quite simply the only thing of note that I have ever achieved.

My boobs – I would not be without such a fantastic weapon in my parenting armoury. Yes I’m aware that makes me sound like one of those Austin Powers robot women.

My job – yay for the demotion that made my job so much more interesting and flexible.

My home – it’s not the perfect house, but it’s definitely home.

Other things that are too numerous to mention. Life is good.

Perchance to sleep

Last night I dreamed that I accidentally fed Bernard a can of dogfood. He liked it.
