Hoity-Toity

On asking if we had a style guide to assist in my copy-editing task at work, I was informed that the main rule was American English… because we don’t want our [American] readers to think we’re all hoity-toity Europeans… We subsequently coined the term European English (as opposed to British English) because we think that sounds far more hoity toity. And hoity toity is a good thing in the European English dictionary.
